Iaido is beneficial to both men and women by enhancing concentration and awareness. Iaido's non-strenuous exercises build strength and flexibility and promote a sense of well being. It is a non combative art with no body contact. The challenge is to master the art of Iaido, not to compete with other students.
The student starts by using a wooden practice sword (bokken) to learn Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido. Beginning students may wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing and only need an obi belt, knee pads and a bokken to participate in class. (all equipment may be purchased at cost from the Dojo)
Class Info
Class dues are $60/month. This includes four or five (depending on the month) 90 minute classes and wholesale discounts on martial arts supplies. If it is impossible for you to attend class once a week, you may pay $40/month for two 90 minute classes per month. Two classes in a month is the absolute minimum necessary to make any progress in this martial art, which is why we don't offer single classes for a mat fee.
